Traveling through the decades of surf and sound, LIVE mixes archived and current footage while drawing us through the evolution of music related to surfing, from strums of a ukulele to the raw reverberations of punk.

Between the sweet shots of surfing icons like Gerry Lopez, Kelly Slater, Rabbit Kekai, Mark Occhilupo and Tom Curren paired with the music of artists like The Doors, Jackson Browne and Sublime, director David Parsa brings us closer to the symbiotic relationship between the rhythm of the waves and the rhythm of music.

“I chose to make LIVE simply because it is the surf film that I’ve always wanted to see,” says Parsa, who wanted to bring out the connection that so many surfers find integral to their sport. “For each sequence in LIVE, my goal was to blend the two in a manner that would result in one inseparable and compelling journey for the viewer.” And by the end of the film, that’s exactly what surf and sound become: beautifully inseparable.
